The Great Wall 长城
The Great Wall is the must-see sight of China and one of the most iconic human constructions on Earth. It was built 2.000 years ago by the same Emperor that built the Terracotta Warriors. The idea was to protect China from the northern invaders, but it was not strong enough to defend against the infamous Genghis Khan that invaded China in the 13th Century. During the following centuries, the Wall stretched in different sections from the sea in the East to the Silk Road in the West. The most famous sections near Beijing are Badaling, Mutianyu, Simatai and Jingshanling. Walking over this huge engineering project and snap pictures from its beacon towers that were used to send smoke signals. The Great Wall is a mandatory experience that can be done privately or in a group tour.
