Hong Kong is one of the two Special Administrative Regions in China, the other being Macao.  Formerly a colony of the British Empire after being acquired during the Opium War, it was returned to the People’s Republic of China in 1997 with the understanding that it would remain autonomous for the next 50 years (until 2047). Hong Kong is home to the most skyscrapers in the world, jumbling in harmony with the lush local vegetation. The city is the perfect combination of East and West, of the tradition and the modernity. The British style classic buildings stand surrounded by 80-floors towers and bamboo scaffolds as double-decker tramways plow through the streets reclaimed from the sea during the last decades; red sail junk boats navigate the Bay with a background of neon lights full of Chinese characters… Summing up, a city to explore and most importantly, to taste, due to its world recognized cuisine of dim sum and Cantonese delicacies.
